This position will serve primarily as a clinical mental health therapist and assist with behavioral medicine curriculum for the SIU Center for Family Medicine-Decatur and the Family Medicine Residency Program.

Read the Position Description 

  1. Master Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or other closely related field.
  2. Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker or Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois  (or eligibility for licensure);
  3. Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations
  4. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  5. Must possess excellent organizational skills and have the ability to prioritize work efficiently.
  6. Pleasant, courteous, professional and helpful manner is essential.
  7. Effective interviewing and counseling skills.
  8. Possess knowledge of and experience with mental and behavioral health principles, developmental stages through the life cycle, normal and abnormal development and psychopathology.
  • Previous experience working effectively with physicians and other providers in the primary care setting.
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in providing effective counseling services.
