Researcher I will provide technical assistance and laboratory support to Dr. Cox’s laboratory. Dr. Cox studies hearing loss, balance (vestibular) dysfunction, and regeneration of sensory cells (called hair cells) in the inner ear. The Cox lab uses genetically modified mouse models to delete or over-express genes in specific cells types as a tool to investigate molecular mechanisms. We also use a variety of methods including immunofluorescent staining, confocal microscopy, real time qPCR, in situ hybridization, and auditory brainstem response (to measure hearing function). Dr. Cox’s research is currently funded by the NIH and the Department of Defense.
