Direct the operation of the Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DLAM) in the office of the ADR for Southern Illinois University School of Medicine (SIUSM) - Springfield; provide veterinary clinical, surgical and medical care to the animal population; develop a program of independent research or participate in collaborative research; participate in teaching and committee service.

Read the Position Description

  1. A Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited institution;
  2. Active veterinary license in at least one state with the ability to obtain a license in the state of Illinois within 6-8 months;
  3. Board eligible by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM);
  4. Ability to obtain State and Federal controlled substance license/registration within 6 months from the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA);
  5. Familiarity with current USDA and PHS regulations, and the AAALAC International accreditation process;
  6. Effective communication skills to develop and maintain relationships and to influence compliance with policies and regulations;
  7. Demonstrate job related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment;
  8. Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
