This position provides direct administrative support to several faculty (herein referred to as “principal(s)” for the Neuroscience Institute (NSI), Department of Neurology. Additionally, this position provides back-up for other Office Support Specialists.

Salary: $18.15/hour

1)  High School graduate or equivalent; AND

2) 12 months of clerical/office support work experience comparable to that performed at the Office Support Associate level of this series or in other positions of comparable responsibility, performing duties including, but not limited to, keyboards documents and various correspondence with responsibility for determining format and correcting errors in sentence structure, spelling, punctuation and grammar; composes correspondence with responsibility for accurately stating factual information gathered from a number of sources; screens calls and visitors for a principal(s); maintains a principal(s) calendar, scheduling meetings and appointments; makes arrangements for meetings, conferences and travel following general instructions; AND

3)  Any one, or any combination that totals 2 years from the following:
a.  work experience performing clerical/office support work, including use of computer systems; or
b.  vocational training that provided a knowledge of generally accepted clerical procedures; or
c.  college or university course work in Office Occupations, Business Administration, Business Education, or closely related fields (36 semester hours = 2 years); or
d.  college or university course work in any curriculum (60 semester hours = 2 years

1. Knowledge of numerous computer programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, Webpage management; Outlook calendaring system.

2.  Ability to multi-task and deal with numerous principals

3. Must be familiar with locating resources on the Internet.

4. Basic accounting skills.  Preferred experience with corporate purchase card and reconciliation.

5. Knowledge of office and university procedures.
