Under administrative supervision from a designated supervisor, to perform professional social service/counseling functions in a federal, state, or institutional/agency social and/or educational program, including Sangamon County Illinois Assisted Outpatient Treatment program. This position also provides peer support, based on personal experience, to individuals with mental/behavioral health and substance abuse challenges.

Salary: $3,308.18/month

1. Any one, or any combination that totals 3 years from the following:

a.  college course work comparable to that leading to a major in social work or one of the social or behavioral sciences (120 semester hours, or a Bachelor’s degree = 3 years); or

b.  progressively responsible social service/counseling work experience at a paraprofessional level under qualified supervision

2. Demonstrated “lived” experience in sustained recovery and re-entry from mental health and substance use challenges.

3. Current and valid Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) from an accredited organization or the ability to obtain the certification within two (2) years of employment.

Condition of Employment:  Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, an out-of-state resident who is hired into this position must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of their start date.
