The incumbent in this position provides nursing duties as well as appropriate education to patients with diabetes mellitus and ensures that it meets nationally recognized standards of care in the SIU School of Medicine Ambulatory Clinic, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology. The primary responsibility being to assist physicians, residents, and medical students in the performance of patient care activities. Additionally, the incumbent will provide nutritional assessments, education, and counseling for patients with diabetes, dyslipidemias, overweight or obesity, and metabolic syndrome.

Salary: $4,848.08/month

1)  Licensed as a registered professional nurse in the State of Illinois; AND

2)  Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; AND

3)  2 years of public health or specialized nursing experience

4)  Board Certified Diabetes Educator or become Board Certified Diabetes Educator within 2 years of hire.

Condition of Employment:  Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, an out-of-state resident who is hired into this position must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of their start date.
